Plainfield, Ill. - The Lewis University women's tennis team was clicking on all cylinders as the Flyers dropped only seven games in a 9-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference whitewash over Illinois Springfield at the Five Star Tennis Center on Friday (April 3) afternoon.

With the victory, the Flyers improve to 8-5 overall and 4-0 in GLVC action, while the Praire Stars fall to 6-12 on the season and 0-3 in conference play.

At No. 1 doubles, Lewis freshman
Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) and junior
Megan Nguyen (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora) defeated UIS' Danielle Mendoza and Faith Hook, 8-0. Mindyarova added a 6-0, 6-0 whitewash of Mendoza at No. 1 singles, while Nguyen was perfect at No. 2 singles defeating Hook, 6-0, 6-0.

Lewis sophomore
Ana Banic (Skradin, Croatia/Gimnazija Antuna Vrancica) and junior
Jill Wetmore (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa) routed Neena Prabhu and Janasha Prabhu, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 singles, Banic added a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Janasha Prabhu, while Wetmore won 6-0, 6-0 over Hannah Latif at No. 4 singles.

Completing the perfect day for the Flyers was the junior duo of Jaime Drez and
Kayla Annerino (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn) as they took down Latif and Elizabeth Purcell, 8-0, at No. 3 doubles. Drez added a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Neena Prabhu at No. 5 singles, while Annerino defeated Purcell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

Lewis returns to action Saturday (April 4), as the Flyers welcome Bellarmine to the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex for a 10 AM first serve.
