Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University men's tennis team was dominant on Monday (April 6) as they defeated Olivet Nazarene, 8-1, in a non-conference match-up at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex.
With the win, Lewis improves to 11-6, while visiting Olivet Nazarene falls to 7-5 on the season.
At No. 1 doubles, the Lewis duo of senior
Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) and sophomore
Mate Srdanovic (Split, Croatia/Graditeljsko-Geodetska Tehnicka) earned an 8-4 victory over Olivet Nazarene's Juan Morales and Rodolfo Sanchez. At No. 1 singles, Levandi defeated Oscar Cornella 6-2, 6-2, while Srdanovic dropped Sanchez 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Lewis senior
Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) and freshman
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) paired together for an 8-6 win over Navarro Veys and Cornella at No. 2 doubles. Aunapuu completed the 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 comeback win over Veys at No. 2 singles.
Completing the doubles sweep for the Flyers was sophomore
Chris Jastrab (Kaiserslautern, Germany/Kaiserslautern) and freshman
Alan Fijalkowski (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) as they defeated Peter Jensen and Lucas Bolt at No. 3 doubles, 8-3. At No. 5 singles, Fijalkowski completed a 5-7, 7-6 (8), 10-6 comeback victory over Jensen, while Jastrab rallied for the 4-6, 6-3, 10-2 win over Tyler Ellis at No. 6 singles.
Lewis returns to action on Friday (April 10), as the Flyers travel to Indianapolis for a 2 PM ET first serve.
