Rensselaer, Ind. -
Saint Joseph's freshman midfielder Sebastian Quinteros scored 41 seconds into the contest and that would be all the Pumas would need, as they earned the 1-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over the Lewis University men's soccer team at Minielli Field on Sunday (Sept. 13) afternoon.

Puma freshman forward Erick Turner assisted on the play.

"(Saint Joe's) played very direct, which was similar to Saginaw Valley State, and we had trouble getting into rhythm," Lewis head men's soccer coach Evan Fiffles said. "The early goal gave them a lot of momentum."

With the win, Saint Joseph's improves to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in conference action, while the visiting Flyers fall to 0-3-1 on the season and 0-1-1 in GLVC play.

Saint Joseph's outshot Lewis, 24-11, including a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal. Puma goalkeeper Adam Whybrow made four saves to earn the shutout, while Flyer netminder Justin Salazar (Elburn, Ill./Hinckley Big Rock) stopped nine shots.

Lewis returns to action on Friday (Sept. 18), as the Flyers head to Kirksville, Mo., for a 1 PM showdown with Truman State.
