Romeoville, Ill. - Missouri-St. Louis senior midfielder Jon Huelsman posted two first half goals in 58 seconds as the visiting Tritons collected the 2-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Lewis University at Lewis Stadium on Sunday (Sept. 27) afternoon.
Huelsman put the Tritons on the board as he lofted a shot over the head of Lewis goalkeeper
Aaron Menyes (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) from the 20-yard line to give UMSL the 1-0 advantage at the 39:56 mark. UMSL was awarded a penalty kick less than a minute later and Huelsman beat Menyes for the score.
"(Those) two mistakes hurt big," Lewis head men's soccer coach
Evan Fiffles said. "We are not doing a lot of things well right now, but we're going to keep working hard.
"Do you stay positive?," Fiffles continued. "Sure you do, but you still have to execute."
With the victory, UMSL improves to 4-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in conference action, while the Flyers fall to 0-7-1 on the campaign and 0-5-1 in GLVC play.
