Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University men's basketball team scored its most points since 2009 and had three players score over 20+ points en route to the 101-89 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over the University of Indianapolis at Neil Carey Arena on Thursday (Feb. 18) night.
It was the most points scored by a Flyer team since a 101-82 win over UW-Parkside on January 17, 2009.
Lewis freshman
Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights) tied a season-high with a game-high 27 points, including four three-pointers, along with five assists and two steals. Senior forward
Kyle Nelson (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) and sophomore forward
Max Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) each scored 22 points in the victory. Nelson, who also added six rebounds and three assists, scored his 1,000th career point in the second half.

Miles Simelton (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) had 14 rebounds, six rebounds and a game-high six assists, while freshman
Frank Vukaj (Davison, Mich./Davison) recorded a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds on 7-for-9 shooting.
As a team, Lewis shot 59.7% (37-for-62) from the floor and 58.8% (10-for-17) from long range. In the second half, Lewis drained 66.7% (20-for-30) of its field goal attempts and 75.0% (6-for-8) of its three-point shots. Strus (4-for-4) and Blaylock (4-for-6) combined to shoot 8-for-10 from beyond the arc. The Flyers were equally as impressive from the free throw line, converting a season-best 94.4% (17-for-18) from the charity stripe.
With the win, Lewis improves to 19-7 on the campaign and 11-5 in GLVC action, while the visiting Greyhounds drop to 18-6 overall and 12-4 in GLVC play.
UIndy senior forward Joe Retic led four Greyhounds in double-figures with 25 points, followed by 15 points and three trifectas from redshirt sophomore guard Alex Etherington and 12 points from senior guard Jordan Loyd. Loyd, who entered the game averaging 20.3 points-per-game, went 4-for-9 from the floor.
Greyhound senior guard Lucas Barker recorded a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
In a game that featured 19 lead changes, the Greyhounds took its final lead at 76-72 following a Barker lay-up with 6:17 remaining in the contest. The Flyers responded with a 10-0 run over the next 2:32, led by a pair of Blaylock three-pointers, to give Lewis an 82-76 advantage they would not relinquish. UIndy was held to three field goals the rest of the way following Barker's layup.
"We didn't panic, we got good shots and we executed tonight," Lewis head men's basketball coach
Scott Trost said. "I'm really proud of our resilliency and our character down the stretch.
"It's a good win against a really good NCAA-caliber type team."
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 20), as the Flyers welcome Saint Joseph's to Neil Carey Arena for "Senior Day". Tip-off is set for 3 PM.
