Indianapolis, Ind. - The Lewis University softball team ran into a buzzsaw in No. 2 ranked University of Indianapolis, as the host Greyhounds (27-0, 10-0 GLVC) remained undefeated with the 5-0, 10-2 (5 inn.) Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader sweep over the Flyers at Baumgartner Field on Friday (March 25) afternoon.
  "You can't make mistakes against a team like Indy because they'll take advantage of them every single time," Lewis head softball coach
Becky Pearl said. "If we can learn to minimize our mistakes and execute the way I know we can, there's a lot of positive softball ahead of us."
  Lewis (13-16, 2-8 GLVC) returns to action on Saturday (March 26), as the Flyers head to Rensselaer, Ind., for a 12 PM twinbill with Saint Joseph's.

Indianapolis 5, Lewis 0

Jenna Cairo (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) earned both hits off of Foley with a pair of singles.
  The Greyhounds succeeded offensively, as they connected for three home runs off of Lewis starting pitcher
Lainie Schweickert (Peru, Ill./St. Bede Academy). Schweickert scattered five runs and eight hits in six innings pitched, while walking six batters.

Indianapolis 10, Lewis 2 (5 inn.)

  UIndy used a seven-run first inning, including two home runs, to claim the 10-2 (5 inn.) over the Flyers in the nightcap. UIndy catcher Jenny Thompson accounted for two of the three Greyhound home runs, as she went 2-for-3 with five RBI in the victory.

Paige Fossey (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) took the loss for the Flyers, allowing 10 runs on eight hits in one inning pitched. Her counterpart Miranda Tamayo earned the complete-game win for the Greyhounds, surrendering two runs and three hits in five innings of work.

Kaylee Prieto (Chicago, Ill./Marist) went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored to pace the Flyer offense.
