Mitch Perinar (Channahon, Ill./Minooka) hit .472 with 21 kills and seven digs, but No. 13 Lewis men's volleyball fell at No. 5 Ohio State 3-1 (25-22, 25-14, 26-28, 25-22) in a Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association match on Saturday (March 5).
The opening frame was tight until after the 15-point mark when Ohio State took control with a 5-1 run. In the second, the Buckeyes scored the first five points and never looked back.
Lewis rallied back in the third set. Even after falling behind 11-7, the Flyers grabbed a 23-22 lead. An Ohio State timeout gave the Buckeyes some life as a kill and a block gave Ohio State match point at 24-23. Lewis denied a pair of match points with Perinar kills before the Flyers won the set 28-26. Junior
Trevor Weiskircher (Loves Park, Ill./Boylan Catholic) notched point 28 on a solo block.
The fourth set was tight all the way, but Ohio State earned the final two points to win the match after a Weiskircher kill made it a 23-22 deficit for the Flyers.

Jacob Schmiegelt (Lombard, Ill./Willowbrook) had 10 kills on 13 attempts with no errors. Senior
Bobby Walsh (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel) recorded seven kills and three blocks. He sits at 499 career blocks for his career.
"The guys showed some fight but we struggled with some first ball contact," Lewis head coach
Dan Friend said. "Mitch and Jacob had great performances tonight."
The difference statistically was Ohio State's 11-2 edge in service aces.
Ohio State improves to 15-3 (9-1 MIVA). Lewis falls to 11-8 (6-5 MIVA).
