Lewis Men's Swimming Opens Season With Win Against Illinois Wesleyan

Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University men's swimming welcomed Illinois State and Illinois Wesleyan to the Lewis Pool for the first meet of the season Saturday (Oct. 7).

Lewis did well as a team all starting with the 200 yard medley relay. Mads Knoblauch (Svenborg, Denmark/Svenborg Gymnasium), Jonas Olczyk (Denmark), Alexander Kotevski (Eksiltuna, Sweden), and Jared Stigant () made up the team placing first with 1:37.64. Jake Sater (South Bend, Ind./Riley), Lance Fozo (South Bend, Ind./Riley), Jesse Drake (Goshen, Ind./Northridge), and Sumner Latta (Oshkosh, Wis./Oshkosh North) came in third for the event with a time of 1:44.35.

In the 1000 yard freestyle Adam Tapia (Clearwater, FL/Tarpon Springs High) placed first with 10:03.12. Right behind him was Bryce Brouillette () who placed second touching the wall at 10:38.76.

Lewis placed in the top three spots of the 200 yard freestyle, led by Colin Williams (Elk Grove, Ill./Elk Grove) in first with 1:48.82. Brock Star () placed second with 1:49.54, followed by Kyle Curtis (Reno, Nev./Bishop Manogue) with 1:50.60 in third.

Stigant came in first for the 50 yard free with a time of 22.30. Aaron Norg (Tilbury, Onterio/Maranatha Christian Academy) took second for the event with 22.49.

Knoblauch won the 200 yard individual medley after recording a time of 2:01.79. He was then followed by Drake with 2:05.03 in second, and Fozo came after him in third with 2:09.06.

For the 100 yard butterfly Williams came in first with 51.86. Brandon Bouy (Lafayette, La./Lafayette) finished second with 55.04, and Stigant finished third with 55.88.

Norg and Star went one and two respectively in the 100 yard free. Norg finished with 49.40 while Star had a final time of 49.90.

In the 100 yard backstroke Knoblauch finished first with 52.97. Sater took third with 1:01.82.

Tapia finished first in the 500 yard freestyle with 4:51.10. Curtis finished second with 5:06.79.

Coming in first for the 100 yard breaststroke was Latta who touched the wall at 1:03.13, followed closely by Fozo who recorded a 1:03.35. Olczyk placed third with 1:04.33.

The Flyers closed out the meet by placing first in the 400 yard freestyle relay made up of Norg, Tapia, Williams, and Star who recorded 3:16.33. Jeremy Burbrink (Goshen, Ind./Northridge), Sater, Curits, and Bouy came in second with a final time of 3:26.00.

Lewis looks ahead to its next meet at Eastern Illinois on October 14.
