Romeoville, Ill. - It was a balanced attack for the No. 4 Lewis University women's volleyball team as it swept Maryville 25-10, 25-17, 25-10 Saturday (Nov. 4) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Neil Carey Arena.
The Flyers had 12 score points in the match, led by 10 from
Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central). Hyland also led the team with eight kills as 10 Flyers recorded kills.
Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn) and
Colleen Wilhelm (Euclid, Ohio/Lake Catholic) each had six kills, while
Morgan Goodman (Cedar Hills, Mo./Home) and
Maddie Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall) each had five kills. WIlhelm hit .857 for the match.
Haley Sobieralski (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) tallied 18 assists in the match, with
Shayna Filippelli (Trinity, Fla./Mitchell) adding seven assists and
Abby Becker (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) chipping in with five assists.
Ronni Katarzynski (Winfield, Ill./West Chicago), Goodman and
Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) had eight digs each.
The Flyers had a hitting percentage of .363 (39 kills, 10 errors, 80 attacks) and had 10 aces in the match, while the Saints hit -.025 (17-19-81).
Lewis also totaled 12 blocks in the match to one from Maryville.
The Flyers move to 25-2 on the year, 14-1 in the GLVC, while Maryville falls to 2-27, 1-15 in the GLVC.
Lewis will host Bellarmine Tuesday (Nov. 7) at 5 PM at Neil Carey Arena.
