Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University's duo of redshirt freshman outside hitter
Ryan Coenen (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) and redshirt sophomore opposite hitter
Mitch Perinar (Channahon, Ill./Minooka) combined for 36 kills to lead the No. 7 Flyer men's volleyball team to the 25-27, 25-21, 25-17, 25-17 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association victory over No. 11 Ball State at Neil Carey Arena on Friday (Feb. 17) night.
Coenen finished with a match-high 21 kills and hit .436 (21 kills, 4 errors, 39 attacks), while Perinar recorded 15 putaways and hit .294 (15-5-34). Together, Coenen and Perinar (9 digs, 3 aces) accounted for 69.2% of Lewis' 52 kills against the Cardinals.
With the win, Lewis improves to 10-3 on the campaign and 5-2 in MIVA action, while the Cardinals fall to 11-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Matt Yoshimoto (Ventura, Calif./Adolfo Camarillo) dished out a match-high 44 assists and six blocks (1 solo), while redshirt sophomore libero
Michael Simmons (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) registered a match-high 15 digs.
Lewis senior middle blocker
John Hodul (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) hit .636 (7-0-11) and added six block assists in the victory.
Lewis finished the match with a hitting percentage of .316 (52-15-117) after being held to a .119 (14-9-42) performance in the opening set. The Flyers hit .426 (38-6-75) over the final three sets to secure the win. Ball State hit .198 (51-26-126) as a team.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 18), as the Flyers welcome Fort Wayne to Neil Carey Arena for a 7 PM first serve.
