Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team completed the series win over Truman State on Monday (March 20), as the Flyers won the opener, 4-1, but dropped a 13-4 decision to the Bulldogs in the nightcap at Brennan Field.
With the split, Lewis is now 4-12 on the campaign, while the Bulldogs move to 7-13 on the season.
Lewis returns to action on Wednesday (March 22), as the Flyers head to Indianapolis for a 4 PM ET showdown with Division I Butler.

Lewis junior hurler
Dalton Hottle (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) held the Truman State bats in check as he allowed one run and two hits, while striking out six batters in 6.1 innings of work to earn his first victory of the season.
Hottle, in fact, held the Bulldogs hitless for the first 4.1 innings, before surrendering a solo home run to Truman first baseman Chris Iliopoulos.
Lewis freshman shortstop
Ryan Schefske (Lombard, Ill. /Glenbard East) went 2-for-3 with two runs and a double, while junior second baseman
Neal Tyrell (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) picked up a pair of singles.
Lewis'
Kenny King (Orland Park, Ill./Providence ), however, provided the deciding blow for the Flyers as he connected for a two-run homer off of losing pitcher Alex Hoffman in the fifth inning to secure the 4-1 win.

Truman State broke a 4-all tie in the fifth inning with nine unanswered runs to earn the 13-4 win over the Flyers in the series finale.
Lewis registered 12 hits against the Bulldogs in the nightcap, but stranded 12 runners.
Flyer sophomore right fielder
Matt McCauley (Oakville, Mo./St. John Vianney) went 3-for-5 to lead Lewis offensively, while senior
Brandon Collins (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Way North) went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run.
Lewis freshman catcher
Anthony Rios (Lemont, Ill. /St. Laurence) picked up a pair of hits, drew a pair of walks and scored a run in the loss.
Lewis reliever
Jay Militello (Elmwood Park, Ill. /Fenwick) took the loss for the Flyers, allowing three runs and three hits, while striking out a pair in 2.1 innings of work.
