Rensselaer, Ind. - The Lewis University baseball team snapped its eight-game losing streak, as the Flyers split their Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader against Saint Joseph's, losing the opener, 7-2, but rallying for the 2-1 win over the Pumas in the nightcap at Gil Hodges Field on Friday (Apr. 14).
With the split Lewis moves to 7-26 on the season and 3-11 in GLVC play, while the host Pumas are now 23-12 overall and 7-7 in conference action.
Both teams will complete the four-game series on Saturday (Apr. 15) with a 12 PM doubleheader.

Saint Joseph's rallied from a 2-0 sixth inning deficit with seven unanswered runs on its way to the 7-2 win over Lewis in the opener.
Lewis reliever
Charlie Wright (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) took the loss for the Flyers, allowing three runs and two hits in 0.2 innings of work. Flyer starter Peter Hamot was impressive, surrendering just one run and two hits, while striking out seven in six innings.

Kenny King (Orland Park, Ill./Providence ) and right fielder
Matt McCauley (Oakville, Mo./St. John Vianney) each went 2-for-4 in the loss.

Sam Couch (Bolingbrook, Ill./Joliet Catholic) tossed a complete-game, five hitter and struck out four batters to help the Flyers snap their eight-game losing streak and claim the 2-1 win over the Pumas in the nightcap.
Flyer sophomore
Brandon Post (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) went 2-for-3 with a RBI, while freshman shortstop
Ryan Schefske (Lombard, Ill. /Glenbard East) rapped two hits and scored once.
The Flyers also received a pair of base knocks - including a double - from sophomore designated hitter
Connor Rutherford (DePere, Wis./DePere).
