Indianapolis, Ind. - The No. 3 Lewis University women's volleyball team, led by double-doubles from junior outside hitter
Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) and redshirt junior setter
Abby Becker (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls), recorded a .430 (49 kills, 6 errors, 100 attacks) hitting percentage in the 25-22, 25-8, 25-21 Great Lakes Valley Conference sweep over the University of Indianapolis at the Ruth Lilly Center on Saturday (Sept. 23).
Hyland garnered 16 kills and 11 digs to go along with a .538 (16-2-26) hitting percentage, while Becker had a match-high 33 assists along with 10 digs.
The Flyers also received 11 kills from sophomore outside hitter
Alexandra Preuss (Elmhurst, Ill./York). Lewis sophomore libero
Ronni Katarzynski (Winfield, Ill./West Chicago) notched a match-high 14 digs.
With the win, Lewis improves to 12-1 overall and 4-0 in GLVC action, while the Greyhounds drop to 6-6 on the campaign and 1-2 in conference play. The win is Lewis' seventh consecutive and its seventh consecutive sweep.
Lewis, led by a match-high seven block assists from sophomore middle hitter
Caroline Stefanon (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg), outblocked the Greyhounds, 12-2. UIndy hit .176 (34-16-102) for the afternoon.
Lewis returns to action on Friday (Sept. 29), as the Flyers head to St. Louis for a 7 PM showdown against Missouri-St. Louis.
