Provo, Ut. - The No. 6 ranked Lewis University men's volleyball team fell to No. 3 Brigham Young University 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-15, 25-15) Saturday (Jan. 6) in a nonconference match at Smith Fieldhouse.
Lewis was led by
Kyle Bugee (Los Altos, CA/Homestead), who recorded 11 kills and four digs.
Ryan Coenen (Franklin, WI/Franklin) added nine kills,
Tyler Mitchem (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) had seven kills and
Dalen Instenes (Racine, WI/William Horlick)Â added six kills.
Ryan Van Loo (Burbank, CA/John Burroughs) added 26 assists and five digs.
Jake Walenga (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln Way North) recorded 31 serve receives.
The Flyers hit .170 (40 kills-24 errors-94 attacks) for the match, while BYU hit .410 (46-12-83). BYU had 10 blocks for the match to 3.5 from Lewis.
Lewis moves to 0-2 on the year, while the Cougars go to 1-1 on the season.
The Flyers begin a nine-match home stand when they welcome Long Beach Friday (Jan. 12) to Neil Carey Arena. First serve is scheduled for 7 PM.
