BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Lewis men's swimming team won 14 out of 16 events to defeat Illinois Wesleyan 213.5 to 66.5 on Friday evening at the Fort Natatorium in Bloomington, Ill. The Flyers finished 1-2 in 13 events.
The Lewis team of Diego Saez-Illobre Moliner, Helio Pereira,
Carter Thoss (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) and
Yurii Kharko (Odessa, Ukraine) won the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.71 while the team of Guillame Bolivard,
Sumner Latta (Oshkosh, Wis./Oshkosh North),
Colin Williams (Elk Grove, Ill./Elk Grove) and Jared Stignant finished in second at 1:38.08.
The Flyers finished first, second and fourth in the 1000 yard freestyle with
Rhys Taylor (Nottingham, England/National C of E Academy) winning the event with a time of 9:53.90 while
Jackson Mugg (Cheyenne, Wyoming/Cheyenne East) and
Erik Fosen (/) finished with times of 10:06.96 and 11:10.20 respectively.
Brock Star (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.52 finishing a full two seconds of Illinois Wesleyan's Kyle Fox.
Bolivard,
Jesse Drake (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) and
Michael Roach (New Market, Maryland/Linganore) finished 1-2-3 in the 100-yard backstroke. Bolivard finished with a time of 53.20.
Taylor, Pereira and Latta went 1-2-3 in the 100 breaststroke with Taylor edging out Pereira 59.86 to 59.89.
Williams, Thoss and
Jeremy Burbrink (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) finished 1-2-3 in the 200 fly with Williams winning the race with a time of 1:57.21.
Kharko, Bolivard and Stiganet went 1-2-3 in the 50 freestyle with Kharko finishing first with a time of 21.26 seconds.
Kharko, Stignant, Star and Williams finished 1-2-3-4 in the 100 freestyle with Kharko picking up the win in 46.95 seconds.
Saez-Illobre Moliner won the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:56.13 and Pereira won the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.45.
Mugg won the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:53.91 while Williams won the 100 fly with a time of 51.22.
Saez-Illobre Moliner picked up his second individual event in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:02.72 and the 200 free relay team of Kharko,
Ben Crnich (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg),
Kyle Curtis (Reno, Nev./Bishop Manogue) and Star took first with a time of 1:28.23.
Lewis returns to action next weekend as it travels to Indianapolis to compete in the University of Indianapolis Quad Meet beginning on Friday.
