NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Lewis baseball dropped a pair of games Sunday (Feb. 25) to Northwood at Jackson Field, losing 6-0 and 7-4. The Flyers (1-3) were limited to seven hits on the day, while Northwood (4-5) belted 19 hits.
 
Game 1: Northwood 6, Lewis 0
The Flyers were limited to hits from Ethan Bloom (Schaumburg, Ill./Hoffman Estates) and Sam Cybulski (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Lyons Township) in the contest. Northwood scored five runs in the second inning and added a run in the seventh for all the scoring in the game.
 
Tyler Jandron (1-1) got the win for Northwood, going the entire seven innings, allowing two hits and walking one, while striking out 13. Jay Militello (Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick) (0-1) recorded the loss for the Flyers. Ryan Ward (Hanover Park, Ill./Hoffman Estates) pitched 3.1 innings of relief, striking out three and not allowing a hit or a run. Three Flyer pitchers combined to allow just five hits.
 
Game 2: Northwood 7, Lewis 4
Connor Rutherford (DePere, Wis./DePere) went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a home run to lead Lewis. He opened the game with a leadoff home run in the top of the first. Bloom made it 2-0 in the top of the fourth on a solo home run.
 
Northwood responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, one in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh. Lewis made up two runs in the ninth inning as a Rutherford single drove home two runs, but the rally ended with a pop out and strike out.
 
Max Bain grabbed the win in relief for Northwood, pitching 2.1 scoreless innings, while Lennon Guizdala picked up the save. Blake Marks (Gardner, Ill./Gardner-South Wilmington) suffered the loss for Lewis, allowing three runs in four innings of work.
 
Lewis is off until it goes on its Spring Break Trip, where it heads to Florida for a week. The Flyers will open play March 4 at 12:30 p.m. against Notre Dame College.
