CLERMONT, Fla. – The Lewis Flyer softball team had its four game winning streak snapped in a 4-2 loss to the West Chester (Pa.) Golden Rams on Saturday in Clermont, Fla. The Flyers (11-7) were held to just five hits in the contest.

Lewis scored both of its runs in the first inning. With two outs, Kaylee Prieto (Chicago, Ill./Marist) reached on an error and Cierra Taylor (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) singled to the shortstop. Morgan Weber (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland) followed with a double to left to drive in both runs and would advance to third.

The Golden Rams (8-5) got a run back in the second. They loaded the bases with one out and got a sacrifice fly from Annamarie Harman to score the run. West Chester tied the game in the third on an infield single, an error, a groundout and a wild pitch to tie the game at 2-2.

The Golden Rams broke the deadlock with two runs in the fourth. They loaded the bases with one out and back-to-back singles from Sara Ercolani and Cat Hammer drove in runs to make it 4-2. The Flyers avoided further damage leaving the bases loaded.

Lewis brought the tying run to the plate in the fifth and seventh innings but couldn't get them across.

Five different Flyers had a hit each in the contest with Weber driving in the two runs. Taylor Boelte (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) suffered the loss allowing four runs, two earned, on five hits and walked three in 3.1 innings of work. Cassie Shaw (Moline, Ill./Moline) went the final 2.2 innings allowing no runs on four hits.

Lewis concludes its trip to Florida taking on William Jewell in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. (CST). It'll be the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for both teams.
