HOMEWOOD, Ill. - Thanks to a strong singles performance, the Lewis University men's tennis team topped Chicago State 4-3 Sunday (March 11) at Homewood-Flossmoor.
With the win the Flyers improved to 4-5 on the year, while Chicago State fell to 4-10.
Lewis was able to win the match with all four points coming from singles. At No. 2 singles
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia) beat Rohan Wattley 7-5, 6-3.
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) beat George Botha 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, while
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) topped Cody Wurzelbacher 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Benjamin Kasbeer (Lake Forest, Ill./Deerfield) picked up a win by default.
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) fell at No. 1 singles 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 to Felix Savard, while
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) fell to Christian Gonzalez 6-3, 6-4.
The Flyers are back in action Saturday (March 17) when it takes on Tiffin at 12:45 p.m. at Five Star Tennis Complex in Plainfield.
