HOMEWOOD, Ill. - The Lewis University women's tennis team moved back over .500 after defeating Chicago State 4-3 Sunday (March 11) at Homewood-Flossmoor.
In the victory
Dora Andrejszki (Budapest, Hungary/Dozsa Gyorgy),
Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) and
Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) all went 2-0. In doubles, the No. 1 pair of Andrejszki and Trus beat Mariya Kostyuk and Katarina Drazic 6-4, while the No. 2 team of Mindiyarova and
Simone Parn (Parnu, Estonia) beat Lorea Gamboa and Leshia Gadacz 6-4.
In singles, Andrejszki beat Kostyuk 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Mindiyarova took down Anastasii Goncharova 6-1, 6-2, while Trus beat Gamboa 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3. Parn fell at No. 4 singles 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 to Drazic.
The win moves the Flyers to 5-4 on the year, while Chicago State falls to 3-12.
Lewis will host Tiffin Saturday (March 17) at 12:45 p.m. at Five Star Tennis Complex in Plainfield.
