ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis Flyer softball team ran its winning streak to four games with a pair of wins on Friday down in Clermont, Fla. The Flyers (11-6) defeated Notre Dame College (Ohio) 5-1 in the afternoon and then held off a late comeback attempt to defeat Hillsdale 4-3 in the evening.

Lewis jumped in front with an unearned run in the top of the second.
Dara Sanders (Crestwood, Ill./Mother McAuley) led off the inning with a single to center and went to second on a sacrifice from
Morgan Weber (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland).
Jessica Lofthouse (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) followed with a single to right to move Sanders to third and then an error by the right fielder allowed Sanders to score.
The Flyers broke it open scoring four times on four hits in the third.
Emily Guske (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) led off the inning with a single and went to second on a ground out.
Kaylee Prieto (Chicago, Ill./Marist) walked and then both runners moved up on a wild pitch.
Cierra Taylor (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) drove in Guske with a single to right to make it 2-0. With two outs, Weber doubled to left scoring Prieto and Taylor to extend the lead to 4-0. Lofthouse followed with another double to bring home Weber with the fifth run.
That was all the run support that Sanders needed as she held the Falcons (4-6) scoreless through six innings on only three hits. Kim Crookston broke the shutout with a leadoff homer in the seventh. She struck out three in the contest and walked one to improve to 8-2.
Lewis outhit Notre Dame (Ohio) 7-4 in the contest with Guske and Lofthouse leading the way with two hits each. Taylor, Sanders and Weber had a hit each.

The Chargers (4-6) jumped in front with an unearned run in the first inning but the Flyers scored all four of their runs in the second inning to take the lead.
Sarah DeMasi (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) singled with the bases loaded to drive in two and then two batters later Taylor doubled to right scoring Guske and DeMasi.
Hillsdale got a run back in the third on a RBI single from Emma Johnson but would leave the tying runs on base. The Chargers made things interesting in the seventh getting a run and had the tying run base with only one out but Sanders got back-to-back fly outs to end the game.
Lewis had nine hits in the contest led by Guske with three. Six players had a hit each. Sanders pitched her second complete game of the day to earn the win and improve to 9-2. She allowed three runs, two earned, on 13 hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
The Flyers have a single game on Saturday taking on West Chester (Pa.) at 3:30 p.m. (CST) in Clermont, Fla.
