ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The 10th ranked Lewis Flyer men's volleyball team travels to Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday to take on seventh ranked Ohio State in the semifinal round of the MIVA Tournament. This will be the third meeting this season between the two sides with each winning in straight sets on their home courts.
The Flyers (19-10) advanced to the semifinal round after sweeping Fort Wayne on Saturday night at Neil Carey Arena.
Ryan Coenen (Franklin, WI/Franklin) and
Mitch Perinar (Channahon, IL/Minooka) paced the offensive attack with 17 and 15 kills respectively while
Matt Yoshimoto (Ventura, CA/Adolfo Camarillo) finished with a double-double recording 40 assists and 10 digs.
The Buckeyes (20-5) got 14 kills from three-time MIVA Player of the Year Nic Szerszen, who hit .462, had five of his team's eight aces, nine digs and two blocks in the sweep of Quincy last Saturday. Maxime Hervoir added eight kills while Blake Leeson and Jake Hanes had six kills apiece.
The winner of Wednesday night's contest will take on the winner of the other semifinal between Ball State and Loyola on Saturday evening.
