Colorado Springs, Colo. – Cameron Hoying (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) and
Quin Zilch (Media, Penn./The Shipley School) were two of the 13 collegiate men's volleyball players selected to compete with the 2026 Beach Collegiate National Team (BCNT) which will be coached by Lewis University men's volleyball head coach
Dan Friend.
It's awesome we have two Lewis Flyers representing USA Beach" Friend said. "Quinn officially made the move this last year to full time beach and has been doing great while Cameron is just getting started but is so talented with all his skills it will be great to see him excel!"
Of the 13 men selected for the event, Hoying and Zilch are the only two representing a Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball School (MIVA) school. Additionally, Hoying is one of three players selected to not be from the West Coast or Arizona.
As for Friend, he is no stranger to leading Team USA as within the last two years he was the head coach of the 2025 Collegiate Beach/U26 Men's Team USA National Team and led three teams at the 2024 Beach World University Championship.
"I excited and proud to work with USA Beach" Friend said. "We have a fantastic and talented group of young men and it will be exciting to see them improve and compete next week!"
The athletes will participate in a training block June 8-17 in Hermosa Beach, Calif., where they will train alongside USA Volleyball's Beach National Team Program athletes and coaches. Alongside Friend on the sideline will be Olympian and Stetson University assistant coach Alvaro Filho.
The training block will culminate with athletes competing in the Beach Senior National Team NORCECA Playoff on June 16-17 in Hermosa Beach. Winners of the playoff will automatically earn the opportunity to represent the United States at a future NORCECA international competition.
