ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis baseball team dropped a pair of games Saturday (April 21) to No. 25 Bellarmine in Great Lakes Valley Conference games at Brennan Field. The Knights won the first game 14-2 and took the second game 4-0. Bellarmine improves its record to 32-11 overall, 14-4 in the GLVC, while the Flyers fall to 15-21-1, 7-10 in GLVC. The two teams will square off again Sunday (April 22) at Brennan Field for two more games, with the first game starting at 12 p.m.

Game one – Bellarmine 14, Lewis 2
The Knights had four home runs in the first three innings and never looked back, taking an 8-0 lead after three and adding six more runs in the sixth. Lewis scored two runs in the eighth as
Jermaine Terry (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) belted his second home run of the year to left field, scoring
Sam Cybulski (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Lyons Township).
Tyler Talbot (Channahon, Ill./Minooka) was strong in relief, pitching 3.2 scoreless innings.
Neal Tyrell (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) and
Brandon Post (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) had doubles for the Flyers. Eddie Mathis (6-1) picked up the win for the Knights, while
George Manikas (Lockport, Ill./Joliet Catholic) (1-3) suffered the loss.

Game two – Bellarmine 4, Lewis 0
Bellarmine posted a run in the second and added one each in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings for insurance.
Kyle Kane (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth) reached base twice for the Flyers, recording a hit and a walk.
Blake Marks (Gardner, Ill./Gardner-South Wilmington) (5-3) went all seven innings for the Flyers, allowing eight hits and four earned runs, striking out three batters. Jacob Nagel (5-2) had the shutout win for Bellarmine.
