ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University men's tennis team qualified for the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament for the third time in four years, the NCAA announced Tuesday (April 24). The Flyers (12-10 were awarded the No. 4 seed in the region and will face No. 5 Wayne State (14-11) Monday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at the University of Indianapolis.

Lewis defeated Wayne State 5-4 in a match on March 18 at Five Star Tennis Academy in Plainfield. The Flyers were victorious at No.1 doubles (
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma),
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia)) and No. 2 doubles (
Anton Levitin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin)) as well as from Braschinsky,
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) and
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton)Â in singles. In the most recent ITA national rankings, Wayne State is ranked No. 45, while Lewis is ranked No. 47.

Leading the way for the Flyers this year has been Braschinsky, who is ranked No. 38 in singles with a 20-7 record and No. 7 in doubles with Lusti, who are 21-6. Braschinsky was also named to the All-GLVC Team for the third time in his career. Peterson has posted a 12-7 record in singles.

The winner of the match will take on the winner of No. 1 seed Indianapolis (22-2) and No. 8 Missouri – St. Louis (12-4) Saturday at 11 a.m.
