PLAINFIELD, Ill. – Lewis' men's tennis team swept Midland 7-0 in its match on Monday at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill. With the win, the Flyers improve to 4-3 on the season while the Warriors drop to 4-7.
Lewis took all three doubles matches to win the point and take a 1-0 lead.
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) and
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) teamed up at No. 1 Doubles to defeat Enrique Del Rio and Conrad Mascarenhas 6-1.
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia) and
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) were teamed together at No. 2 doubles defeating Dylan Hatanelas and Jack Fryer 6-2. At No. 3 doubles, Pedja Trifunovic and
Anton Levitin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) defeated Salvador Almeida and Ryan Vitera 6-2.
In singles action, Braschinsky defeated Mascarenhas 6-3, 6-3 in straight sets in No. 1 singles. Lusti downed Fryer in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Ambrozic won in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 over Almeida, Trifunovic won at No. 4 singles defeating Jaime Olarieta 6-2 and 6-3.
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) needed a first set tie break to beat Vitera 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. In the final singles match Peterson downed Hatanelas 6-1, 6-1.
The Flyers are back in action on Friday as they host Prairie State at 2 p.m. at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex.
