AURORA, Ill. - The Lewis University men's tennis team defeated Illinois Springfield 6-1 Wednesday (April 10) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Vaughan Tennis Center.
With the win the Flyers moved to 8-4 overall, 3-1 in the GLVC, while UIS fell to 12-4, 2-2 in the GLVC.
The doubles point went to Lewis as it won all three matches.
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma)Â and
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) defeated Sam Clarke and Tommy Martinez at No. 1 6-2,
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia) and
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) topped Logan Burgess Hayes and Matthew Lapsley 6-4 at No. 2 and
Anton Levitin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and
Pedja Trifunovic () 6-1 at No. 3.
In singles it was Braschinsky over Clarke 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1, Lusti over Burgess Hayes 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2, Ambrozic over Martinez 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3,
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) over Oscar Toro 2-6, 6-0, 10-8 at No. 5 and Peterson over Lapsley 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 at No. 6. Trifunovic dropped his match at the No. 4 spot 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 10-8.
Lewis concludes GLVC regular season play Friday (April 12) when it travels to Evansville, Ind. to take on Southern Indiana.
