INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The No. 48 Lewis men's tennis team dropped its semifinal match in the GLVC Tournament to No. 30 Drury 4-1 on Saturday at the University Tennis Center in Indianapolis, Ind. The Flyers fall to 10-5 while the Panthers improve to 15-4.
Lewis took two of the three doubles matches to win the opening point of the contest.
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) and
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) defeated Nico Hadeler and Gregor Kokalj 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles it was
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia) and
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) defeating Augustin Diot and Paul Porcher 7-6 (7-4).
Anton Levitin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and
Pedja Trifunovic () lost to Leonardo Cerri and Lukas Stierling 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles competiton,
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) won the opening set 6-2 over Hadeler but Hadeler came back to win the next two sets 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1 singles. In No. 2 singles Lusti fell to Diot 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia) lost to Kokalj in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. In No.5 singles play Peterson dropped a straight sets decision to Stierling 6-3, 6-2. The matches at No. 4 singles between Trifunovic and Porcher was unfinished as was the No. 6 singles match between Cerri and Levitin.
The Flyers will wait to see if they receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament which begins on Saturday (May 11).
