ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University men's tennis team swept its matches with St. Francis, defeating the Saints 7-0 on Wednesday (April 3) at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex. The win is the fourth straight for the Flyers as they improve to 6-3 on the season while USF falls to 5-14.
Lewis, didn't lose a match on the day, sweeping through the doubles matches. The No. 1 doubles team of
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) and
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) defeated Ian Millan Vetokhin and Avilash Mishra 6-3.
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia) and
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) defeated Mike Hasler and Miguel Rayos del Sol 6-2 at No. 2 doubles to earn the doubles point.
In singles, Braschinsky beat Vetokhin 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1, Lusti defeated Mishra 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2, Ambrozic took down Rayos del Sol 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3, Pedja Trifunovic topped Hasler 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4,
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) beat Fernando Turiel 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 and Peterson knocked off Antonio Sanmartin 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6.
The Flyers return to the court on Friday hosting Bellarmine in a GLVC contest beginning at 2 p.m. at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex.
