Flyers Pick Up Three More Ranked Wins At Ladyjack Classic

Lewis sets baker match record with 1,066 series

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Lewis University women's bowling team picked up three more ranked wins en route to an 11th place finish over the weekend at the Ladyjack Classic, hosted by Stephen F. Austin at Sheridan Lanes. The Flyers finished the weekend with an 186.5 average and a 6-7 record overall in a tournament featuring 10 ranked teams, including six of the top 11 teams in the country.

The Flyers (28-22) opened play Friday (Nov. 12) in five-game bakers with an 891-750 win over Carthage. They then fell to No. 7 Youngstown State 966-850 before a baker-record 1,066-721 win over Upper Iowa. No. 2 McKendree rolled a 299 game en route to a 1,127-941 win over the Flyers, but the Flyers came back to finish the day with an 897-850 win over No. 24 Marian.

In traditional play Saturday, Lewis defeated No. 21 Wisconsin Whitewater 1,034-955 in its second highest traditional score ever.  It then fell to No. 11 Duquense 970-907 and No. 3 Arkansas State in a heartbreaker 945-944. The Flyers came back to beat North Central 918-820 before falling to No. 1 Nebraska 1,038-843.

In best-of-7 match play Sunday, the Flyers fell to Duquesne 4-0 (170-194, 184-222, 181-225, 209-212) and 4-0 to Valparaiso (181-198, 164-193, 154-161, 214-241) before defeating Marian 4-0 for their 11th win over a ranked opponent this year (210-190, 177-146, 197-174, 229-170).

Jenna Sussenbach (Naperville, Ill./Plainfield North) led the way for the Flyers with a 256 game and a 1,060 five-game series to place ninth overall. Kylie Johnson (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North) placed 22nd overall with a 240 game and a 1,025 series. Kayla Dench (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield East) added a 710 in four games, Kelsey Olson (South Beloit, ILL./Hononegah) had a 558 in three games, DeAlani Fishbeck (Lawton, Okla./Lawton) had a 508 in three games, Savanna Jourdan (Oswego, ILL./Oswego) shot a 343 in two games, Erica Lohr (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) had a 317 in two games and Amber-Grace Carroll (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) added a 125 game.

The Flyers will return to the lanes after the New Year to compete in the ISPBA/Midwest Collegiate Classic at Starduest Bowl in Addison January 15.
