ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University women's bowling team is ranked No. 18 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) February poll released Thursday (Feb. 4). It is the first time in program history the Flyers are ranked in the all-division poll.
The Flyers (15-18) received 247 points, finishing 12 points behind Duquesne. Great Lakes Valley Conference foe McKendree holds down the top spot in the poll with 20 of 39 first place votes, while Vanderbilt is second with 12 first place votes and Arkansas State is third with four first place votes. Maryville (9) and Central Missouri (22) are other GLVC teams which are ranked.
Lewis is ranked No. 17 in the RPI and No. 14 in average (178.3) through Jan. 25 matches. It is coming off a second-place finish last weekend at the Warhawk Classic.
The Flyers host five other ranked teams at the Storm Flyer Classic, which begins Feb. 12 at Strike n Spare II in Lockport. There will be no spectators allowed at the tournament, per GLVC rules.
