Lewis’ Heinzer Named To CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University senior sprinter Allison Heinzer (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland HS) was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Division II Track and Field/Cross Country Second Team on Wednesday (July 12), as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She becomes the fourth player in program history to be named to the Academic All-America award joining Rebecca Prisler (2015), Amber Cook (2016) and Amanda Farrough (2016).

Heinzer, a special/elementary education major with a 3.76 cumulative GPA thanks to a 4.00 mark in the fall semester, was the GLVC Champion in the 200 and 400 meters and was a part of the championship 4x1 and 4x4 relay squads in helping the Flyers win their fifth straight GLVC Outdoor Track and Field title. She was named this year's GLVC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. Heinzer finished third in the 200 meters and fourth in the 400 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and was a member of the 4x1 and 4x4 relay teams that finished fourth and seventh respectively. She also earned Academic All-GLVC honors, received the GLVC's Council of President's Academic Excellence award and was the GLVC's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's track and field in 2020 and 2021.

Heinzer is the 55th Academic All-American in school history and the third this year.
