Flyers Claim GLVC Title After Dominant Three-Day Performance

Bolivar, Mo. – The Flyers capped off a dominant weekend by claiming the 2026 GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championship, totaling 154 points to narrowly edge Southwest Baptist (150) on the final day of competition.

In the field events, Denise Hernandez (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North HS) secured a runner-up finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.80 meters, while Veronica Walkosz followed in fourth at 11.68 meters. Aubrey Brinkman (Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs HS) contributed additional points in the discus with a fourth-place throw of 43.47 meters.

On the track, the 4x100 relay team placed fifth in 47.19, and the 4x400 relay team closed out the meet with a fourth-place finish in 3:54.27.

Mary Edwards (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) delivered a championship performance in the 5,000 meters, taking first in 17:06.47. The Flyers added key scoring depth as Josephine Bober (Lockport, IL/Lockport Twp HS) placed fourth (17:25.40) and Madilyn Calloway (Rochester, Ind./Rochester Community) finished fifth (17:26.40).

The Flyers will compete at the Fighting Chance Invite on May 8-9 in Joliet, Illinois.
