Indianapolis, Ind. - After a successful showing at the Joey Haines Invitational, Denise Hernandez (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North HS) was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

It is the first outdoor award for any member of the Flyers this season and first outdoor weekly award for Hernandez since April 23, 2025.

Hernandez had a standout meet in the horizontal jumps, reaching 6.08 meters in the long jump to rank #5 in the NCAA, while also recording a 12.13 meter mark in the triple jump to sit #10 nationally.

The Flyers take the track again this week at the Chicagoland Championships in Elmhurst, Ill., from April 9-11.
