ROMEOVILLE, Ill. –
Lewis University's men's soccer team won a wild one over McKendree 2-1 in double overtime on Friday evening at Lewis Stadium. The Flyers improve to 4-0-1, 2-0 GLVC while the Bearcats drop to 1-1-2, 1-1 GLVC.

Neither side scored in the first half but Lewis had more chances outshooting McKendree 6-2 and 3-1 in shots on goal.

The Flyers got on the board first in the 67th minute. Jayson Iniguez (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport Township) served a corner kick into the box and Domenic Baumann (Bergheim, Germany/Brauweiler) tried to head it in but the ball hit the crossbar, stayed in play and fell to the feet of Austin Keate (Tinley Park, Ill./Victor J. Andrew) who shot it on the ground into the goal for his first goal of the season.

Lewis appeared to be headed towards a win in regulation but the Bearcats spoiled those plans winning a free kick in the closing seconds. Eddie Davis served a free kick into the box. Diego Tapia-Fraites headed it back to James Stone who shot it in to tie the game with 0:04 left.

McKendree had three shots in the first overtime to one for the Flyers but Lewis flipped the script in the second overtime taking three shots to one for the Bearcats.

The game-winner came in the final minute of the contest. Justin Darlage (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) played a ball from just beyond midfield to the edge of the penalty area. Jimmy Mwanga (Dublin, Ireland/CBS Lucan) won a header passing it to Matthew Beaulieu (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) who shook his defender and riffled a shot into the upper left corner for his first goal of the season.

The Flyers outshot the Bearcats 15-8 in the contest including 7-3 in shots on goal. Each side finished with five corner kicks.

Lewis wraps up its five-match homestand on Sunday hosting Missouri-St. Louis at 2:30 p.m.
