ELKHART, Ind. – Lewis University's women's swimming is in seventh place heading into the final day of the GLVC Swimming and Diving Championships at the Elkhart Health and Aquatic Center in Elkhart, Ind. The Flyers scored 105 points on in Friday's session and have recorded 379 points through the first three days.
Aubrey Fischer (Lawrence, Kan./Lawrence) won the C Final of the 200 fly with a time of 2:12.19 besting her prelim time by nearly five seconds.
Maria Rodriguez (Seville, Spain/San Francisco de Paula) and
Daniela Navarrete (Panama City, Panama/) finished sixth and seventh with times of 2:17.00 and 2:17.28 respectively.
Megan O'Brien (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) was seventh in the B Final in a time of 2:13.88.
Kiara Barnes (Cape Town, South Africa/) finished seventh in the B Final of the 500 free touching the wall at 5:11.53 while
Marie Grzybek (Inverness, Ill./William Fremd) and
Meghan Bandy (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) came in fourth and eighth in the C Final with times of 5:20.51 and 5:34.23 respectively.
Larissa Alves (Panama/) was fifth in the B Final of the 100 backstroke in a time of 58.01 seconds and
Rachel Marsh (Houston, Texas/Mirabeau B. Lamar) was eighth in the C Final at 1:00.38.
Lewis' 800 free relay team of Grzybek, Benita Varnauskaite,
Melanie Patterson (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) and O'Brien finished seventh in the B Final with a time of 8:10.16
The final day of the GLVC Swimming and Diving Championships begins at 9 a.m. (CST) on Saturday with prelims in the 100 free, 200 back and 200 breast. The afternoon session will have the prelims of the 1650 free with the finals for the events beginning at 4:30 p.m. (CST).
