Flyers' Season Ends In Game Seven Against Central Missouri

Lewis goes 2-2 in GLVC Tournament

VALLEY PARK, Mo. - The No. 4 seed Lewis University women's bowling team's season came to an end Saturday evening (March 26) with a 2-1 mega match loss to No. 3 seed Central Missouri at Bowlero Lakeside. The Flyers won the traditional portion of the match before losing in baker five-game total pinfall and best-of-seven match play. The Flyers (49-43) went 2-2 overall at the tournament.

Lewis opened the tournament with a 2-0 win over No. 5 seed Drury. It won 1,002-839 in traditional play and 979-853 in baker total pinfall. Jenna Sussenbach (Naperville, Ill./Plainfield North) shot a 227 to lead the Flyers in the match, while DeAlani Fishbeck (Lawton, Okla./Lawton) had a 201, Erica Lohr (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) shot a 200, Kylie Johnson (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North) rolled a 199 and Kayla Dench (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield East) added a 175.

The Flyers finished the day with a 2-0 loss to No. 1 seed and the top ranked team in the country McKendree. They fell 1,069-878 in traditional play and held a lead until the final game in baker play before falling 1,016-973 as the Bearcats shot a 257 in their final game. Dench shot a 231 to pace the Flyers.

On Saturday Lewis opened the morning with a 2-0 win over No. 6 seed Quincy. The Flyers won 1,028-841 in traditional and 925-892 in baker. Lohr shot a 226 in the match, while Johnson had a 215, Dench tallied a 214, Fishbeck had a 191 and Savanna Jourdan (Oswego, ILL./Oswego) added a 182.

Against Central Missouri the Flyers opened traditional play with a 998 to UCM's 927 as Fishbeck fired a 252, Lohr shot a 246, Johnson had a 202 and Sussenbach added a 192. The Jennies came back to win the baker match 1,098-1,016, setting the stage for the best-of-seven match.

The Jennies took game one 197-156, but the Flyers came back to win the next two games 199-185 and 237-180. Central Missouri evened the series with a 147-129 win before Lewis went ahead again with a 207-170 win. However, UCM won the final two games, 220-196 and 213-172 to win the match. The Jennies went on to defeat No. 2 seed Maryville 2-0 Sunday before falling to McKendree in the championship.
