Lotz Named To NCBWA All-Midwest Region Team

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University baseball senior pitcher Jake Lotz (Palos Hills, Ill./St. Laurence) was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-Midwest Region team on Friday. Lotz earned honorable mention honors.

Lotz made a team-high with 21 appearances on the mound going 4-1 with three saves and had a 1.74 earned run average. He struck out 57 hitters in 41.1 innings pitched while holding opposing hitters to a .200 batting average. Lotz struck out a season-high seven hitters against Purdue Northwest on March 20. He averaged 12.41 strikeouts per nine innings pitched.

In the conference tournament Lotz made three appearances and in his 11 innings pitched he went 1-0 with a save and allowed only one unearned run. He pitched a career-high six innings in the 5-4 win over Maryville with six strikeouts on May 14. He came back later that afternoon to nail down a 6-4 win over Quincy pitching 1.1 innings to pick up the save.

The Flyers finished the season with a record of 22-25-21 and advanced to the semifinal round of the GLVC Tournament.
