Men's Soccer Shutouts McKendree, 1-0, Friday

LEBANON, Ill. – The Lewis men's soccer team defeated McKendree, 1-0, in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest at Leemon Stadium Friday (Sept. 16),

HALF BREAKDOWN
FIRST HALF: Lewis 0, McKendree 0
  • Sebastian Doppelhofer (Liebmannweg, Austria/Kapfenburg) did not allow a goal in the first half but there was no shot on goal attempt.  
  • Zahkar Shkidchenko (Kiev, Ukraine/) looked to score early in the sixth minute but his shot went high. 
  • In the ninth minute, Beaulieu went on the attack but his shot was off target. 
  • Charles Carlback (Karlskrona, Sweden/FK Karlskrona) went back in the 14th minute to try to make it 1-0 but his shot went high. 
  • McKendree tried to score this time in the 18th minute but their shot went wide.
  • Moments later in the 27th minute, the Bearcats had another scoring chance but their shot went right. 
SECOND HALF: Lewis 1, McKendree 0
  • Joram Bogers (Noord-Brabant, Netherlands/Mill-Hill College) came out of the second half in the 48th minute looking to break the scoreless tie but his shot was off target.
  • A couple minutes later, Gorodnickis scored the lone goal of the match in the 50th minute which made 1-0. 
  • Christop Gruber looked to tie it in the 71st minute but shot went high. 
  • It was late in the match, McKendree tried to score in the last minute but their shot went high.
FINAL SCORE: Lewis 1, McKendree 0
