BYU leads the all-time series between the two programs. The Cougars won the previous contest on May 6, 2021.
2022 in Review
Lewis went 16-12 last season and had a 7-7 mark in the Midwestern Volleyball Intercollegiate Association. The Flyers went to the MIVA Tournament Semifinals and losing to eventual MIVA Tournament Champion Ball State.
NCAA Division I-II Rankings
Lewis is ranked No. 14 in the Preseason NVA/AVCA Men's Volleyball Division I-II Coaches Poll.
UC-Irvine is ranked No. 8 in the preseason poll while BYU is receiving votes.
Preseason All-MIVA
Lewis returns a wealth of experience to the team this season including Preseason All-MIVA
Kevin Kauling (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) and
Max Roquet (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston), who bring huge numbers and a huge impact for 2023.
Kauling led the team last season with 751 assists which also ranked No. 5 in the MIVA and was second on Lewis with 141 digs.
Roquet played in 14 matches last season while recording 135 kills and 68 digs.
Upcoming Homestand
Lewis has their home opener next Tuesday, January 10 as the Flyers take on Missouri S&T for Student Organization Night with the first of three home games during the week. The Flyers host King on Wednesday, January 11 at 7 p.m. CT for Club Night and will take on UC-San Diego Saturday, January 14 at 7 p.m. CT to wrap up the week for Polar Bear Night.
