SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: Loyola 27, Lewis 25
- Lewis took an early 5-1 advantage after Loyola committed two attack errors and both Prayer and Roquet recorded one kill a piece.
- After an early timeout by the Ramblers, Loyola managed to score nine of the next 16 points, cutting the Lewis lead down to two at 12-10.
- Moments after the Flyers took their first timeout of the set when Loyola tied it up at 17 after a kill by Colton Brooks.
- Both teams would trade the next 16 points and found themselves tied at 25 before Loyola recorded back-to-back to end the set.
- Prayer recorded six kills in the opening set while Roquet posted a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage on three kills.
SECOND SET: Loyola 25, Lewis 19
- Roquet started off the second set with consecutive kills but Loyola held an early lead at 5-3.
- Prayer posted three kills during the next 11 plays, but Lewis still trailed, using its first timeout down 16-12.
- The Ramblers scored four of the next six points to extend their lead to six, but Lewis was able to answer back scoring five of the following six points to cut the Rambler lead down to two.
- The Flyers run to cut the lead consisted of two kills from Roquet and one from Prayer, but Loyola wouldn't allow the lead to be cut any shorter as they ended the set scoring four unanswered points.
THIRD SET: Lewis 25, Loyola 19
- To start the third set, Lewis was trailing 5-2 before scoring four straight to take its first lead of the set at 6-5.
- Moments later, Loyola scored four of the following five points to regain the lead at 11-10.
- The Flyers would not only quickly regain the lead, but would take a 20-16 advantage with a kill by Kevin Kauling (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) and consecutive attack errors by the Ramblers.
- Lewis would post four kills in its final five points to win its first set of the evening after three kills from Prayer and one from Cole Brillhart (York, Pa./Northeastern) sent the game into a fourth set.
FOURTH SET: Loyola 25, Lewis 22
- Both teams traded the opening 10 points of the fourth set as the Flyers were looking to force a fifth.
- After an ace by Loyola which gave them a 10-8 lead, Lewis would take its first timeout of the set.
- The Ramblers lead increased to as much as six.
- Loyola wouldn't relinquish the lead from that point on and were able to go on and win the set 25-22 and the match 3-1.
FINAL SCORE: Loyola 3, Lewis 1
