JOLIET, Ill. -- The Lewis University baseball team defeated St. Francis (Ill.) 15-5 Wednesday (March 1) in a nonconference matchup at Duly Medical Group Field.

Kevin Barry (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) started the scoring after recording a RBI single which scored
Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) to make it 1-0.
Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) made it 2-0 with his RBI single to right scoring
Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian).
David Ascencio (Joliet, Ill./Plainfield Central) drew a bases-loaded walk, which scored Barry to extend the lead out to 3-0.
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) ripped a two-run single scoring
Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) and Cantelo making it 5-0.
Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) extended the lead to 6-0 after his sacrifice fly scored Ascencio.
USF responded with one in the top of the second inning. Lewis erupted for another six-run inning in the bottom half.
McDevitt ripped a two-run single to right center which made it 8-1.
Julian Everett (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln Way East) gave the Flyers a 9-1 advantage after hitting a sacrifice fly scoring Cantelo.
Bilecki extended the Flyers lead to 12-1 after connecting on a three-run homer to right for his second round tripper of the season.
The Fighting Saints got three back in the top of the third inning, which made it 12-4. McDevitt ripped his first home run of the season which extended the lead to 14-4.
USF got one back in the top of the sixth inning to make it 14-5. The Flyers got it right back after Cantelo recorded an infield single which scored Keaty to make it 15-5 as that score would hold for the end of the game.
Ryan Manikowski (New Lenox, Ill./Providence) (1-0) got the victory in relief after going two frames, allowing an earned run, walking two and striking out three.
