ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University men's volleyball team fell to Ball State 3-2 in its final home game of the season on Saturday evening (April 1).

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: Ball State 25, Lewis 22
- The first set began with Ball State taking a narrow 5-4 lead in the early moments of the contest.
- Lewis answered back with three straight points to take the lead, including two kills with Brillhart.
- Both teams went began to trade points and find themselves tied at 18.
- Ball State scored three straight to take a 21-18 lead that they would inevitably hold onto to close out the first set.
- On two separate occasions, Brillhart had a kill to cut the lead down to two, but the Flyers could not recover.
SECOND SET: Ball State 25, Lewis 19
- Both teams began the second set trading blows and were tied at nine before Ball State managed to score three straight and take a 12-9 lead.
- Ball State held the lead for the remainder of the set and expanded its lead to as large as six.
- Lewis struggled throughout the set with 10 attack errors and a 0.083 hitting percentage.
THIRD SET: Lewis 25, Ball State 21
- Lewis took an early 9-7 advantage on the third set after a service error by Ball State and a kill by Tyler Simpson (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park).
- After Ball State regained the lead at 15-14, Lewis scored six straight points. The Flyers took advantage of five attack errors and one service error.
- Ball State was able to cut the lead down to three, but a Brillhart and Roquet ended the set.
FOURTH SET: Lewis 25, Ball State 17
- The fourth set began with Lewis scoring three consecutive kills, two from Tyler Simpson (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and one from Syver Drolsum (Vikersund, Norway/Toppvolley Norge).
- Finding themselves tied at 12, Lewis scored three straight points with an attack error by Ball State and a kill from Brillhart and Drolsum.
- Ball State continued to make mistakes and committed three more errors that extended the Flyers lead to six.
- In fact, the set came to a close as Ball State committed one attack and one service error.
FIFTH SET: Ball State 15, Lewis 12
- In the final set, Ball State managed to take a 6-3 lead after scoring four straight.
- In an effort to climb back into the set, Roquet and Drolsum posted back-to-back kills that cut the lead down to one at 10-9.
- After trading points and still finding themselves down one at 13-12, Ball State was able to record a kill and serve an ace for the final point to complete the win on the road.
FINAL SCORE: Ball State 3, Lewis 2
