Lewis Men’s Volleyball Down Lindenwood in Three Sets

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Lewis University men's volleyball team defeated Lindenwood 3-0 on Thursday evening (April 6).

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: Lewis 25, Lindenwood 23
  • Lindenwood scored two quick points to start the set, but that was quickly wiped away with the Flyers going on a 6-0 run.
  • Roquet notched a kill to record the first point of the evening for Lewis and tallied two aces throughout the stretch.
  • Lewis was able to extend its lead half way through the set at 13-7 after a kill by Prayer.
  • Lindenwood was able to regain the lead at 19-18 but the Flyers were able to end the first set with two scoring possessions, one kill from Roquet and one from Prayer.
SECOND SET: Lewis 25, Lindenwood 20
  • Lindenwood recorded three kills early to help take a 5-1 advantage over Lewis to start the second set.
  • The Flyers were able to recover and tie the set at five after Lindenwood committed three errors and Prayer had a kill assisted by Morgan. 
  • Lewis would later score five straight, capped with a Morgan kill, to take a 13-11 half way through the set.
  • Leading by two, the Flyers scored on seven of the final 11 plays in the set, which included four kills from four different players, to take a 2-0 set lead.
THIRD SET: Lewis 25, Lindenwood 23
  • In the third set, both teams went back-and-fourth to start before Lewis scored four straight to take its largest lead at 12-9.
  • For the Flyers, Prayer had three kills while Brillhart and Roquet had one each half way through the third set.
  • Tied at 15, both teams traded the next 12 points before Cole spiked a kill and Lindenwood committed an attack error that helped give Lewis a 23-21 lead.
  • After a Prayer kill to make it 24, Roquet and Michael Sack (Oak Lawn, Ill./St. Laurence) recorded a block that ended the set and helped the Flyers earn their 15th win of the season.
FINAL SCORE: Lewis 3, Lindenwood 0

The Flyers play their final match of the regular season on Saturday traveling to Quincy, Illinois to play Quincy University at 4 p.m.
