Lewis Baseball Drops Two To Indianapolis Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Lewis University baseball team dropped a pair of games to Indianapolis Saturday (May 6), ending a five-game winning streak.

SUMMARY

Game 1: Indianapolis 4, Lewis 1
The Greyhounds scored four runs in the first inning, which were enough for the victory.

Lewis scored its run in the third inning as an Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) single scored Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin).

Shane Gorman (Orland Park, Ill./Br. Rice) (3-5) suffered the loss, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits in 5.1 innings. Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) and Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) each had two hits to lead the offense.

Game 2: Indianapolis 5, Lewis 3
Indianapolis struck first with a home run in the first inning, but the Flyers came back with three runs in the third inning.

Keaty belted a two-run home run to left field, scoring Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita), to give Lewis a 2-1 lead. Alt added to that lead later in the inning with a sacrifice fly, scoring George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist).

The Greyhounds came back with four runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead. The Flyers came back in the top of the sixth with the bases loaded and one out, but a double play ended the threat.

Lewis had one more chance in the seventh with the tying run at the plate and one out, but back-to-back groundouts ended the game.

Kevin Barry (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) and Keaty and two hits each for the Flyers. Michael Sclafani (Oak Brook, Ill./Montini Catholic) (3-2) suffered the loss , allowing four earned runs on five hits in four innings.
