JOLIET, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team fell, 6-5, at St. Francis (Ill.) Wednesday (Feb. 21).

SUMMARY
St. Francis struck first with two runs in the bottom of the second off three hit batters, a walk and a double. Lewis answered right back with two of its own in the top of the third.
Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) got the rally going with a leadoff single.
Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill.) later hit him home, and a sacrifice fly by
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) plated
Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) to tie the score at two. The Saints retook the lead with a run in the bottom half of the inning.
The Flyers loaded the bases in the top of the fourth, and Kocen stepped up blasting a bases-clearing double with two outs to score all three runners and give Lewis a 5-3 lead. St. Francis got back within one run in the bottom of the fifth with a triple and two singles in the inning.
Neither side scored again until the bottom of the eighth, when the Saints pushed two runs across on
Luke Carlson (Granville, Ill./Putnam County), who took the loss (0-1), to grab a 6-5 lead. In the top of the ninth, Lewis got runners on first and second with two outs, but a foul popout sealed the loss for the Flyers.

Lewis baseball heads to Nashville, Tenn. for a series at Trevecca Nazarene this weekend. The teams will play a doubleheader Friday (Feb. 23) with game one starting at 12 p.m. CT.
