NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Lewis University baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader, 6-5 and 12-1 in seven innings, at Trevecca Nazarene Friday (Feb. 23).

GAME 1 SUMMARY
Trevecca opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first inning, adding another run on a solo home run in the second. The Trojans pushed across one more in the bottom of the third to make it a 4-0 ballgame.
Lewis got on the board in the top of the fourth as
Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill.) led off with a homer to center, his second deep fly of the season.
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) walked and
Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) reached on an error, a wild pitch scored Bilecki and
Tony Fleischauer (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) singled home Headrick to get the Flyers within one, 4-3.
Trevecca did not let that last long, with a leadoff triple in the bottom half leading to another run to make it 5-3.
Michael Sclafani (Oak Brook, Ill./Montini Catholic) then threw a scoreless fifth, and his day was done with five runs on eight hits and three walks with two strikeouts, taking the loss (1-1).
The Trojans scored again in the bottom of the sixth on a walk, hit batter, stolen base and sacrifice fly to increase its lead to 6-3.
Dominic Coda (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic) and
Seth Nanna (Carmel, Ind./Westfield) each worked a scoreless inning for Lewis, which headed to the ninth still down three.
A single by Kocen with two outs started a rally for the Flyers, with Bilecki then hitting a double and Headrick singling them both home, but a grounder to first base gave Trevecca the final out as Lewis fell short, 6-5.

GAME 2 SUMMARY
Game two started out on a rough note for the Flyers, as a bases-loaded triple for the Trojans led to a four-run bottom of the first. Trevecca scored one more in the second to make it 5-0.
Things got even worse for Lewis when the Trojans scored three more in the fourth including a double and a home run to bring the score to 8-0. That brought an end to
Ryan Manikowski's (New Lenox, Ill./Providence) day on the mound, allowing eight runs on eight hits, four walks in and striking out four in four innings while taking the loss (0-2).
The Flyers led off the top of the sixth with a pair of walks and Kocen singled home
Ryne Meriel (Niles, Ill./Carmel Catholic) for Lewis' only run in the game. Two errors in the bottom half of the inning led to four more runs for Trevecca, making it 12-1 and invoking the mercy rule after the Flyers did not score in the seventh.
