ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Lewis University baseball team lost both games of its doubleheader at Missouri-St. Louis, 9-6 and 11-9, Saturday (March 16).

GAME 1 TEAM RECORDS

GAME 1 SUMMARY
UMSL scored one run in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. Lewis answered with a three-run home run by Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic), scoring Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) and Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence), in the top of the second inning.

The Tritons struck back with a pair of runs in the third to tie it at three. During the inning, the Flyers pulled starting pitcher Luke Brown (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) after 2+ innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits, four walks and two strikeouts.

Lewis regained the lead with a run in the top of the fourth as McDevitt led off with a single and later scored on Angelo Cantelo's (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) sacrifice fly. UMSL then took the advantage right back with two runs in the bottom half to make it 5-4.

Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill.) put the Flyers back on top with a two-run homer in the top of the fifth which scored Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) but the Tritons got it right back with two runs of its own in the bottom half to take the lead for good. That resulted in Dominic Coda (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic) taking the loss (0-1) after allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning.

UMSL added two insurance runs in the sixth to make it 9-6. Lewis got runners on the corners with two outs in the seventh, but could not score as the Tritons secured the win.

GAME 2 SUMMARY
UMSL jumped out to a 4-0 lead with one run in the first and three in the third. In the top of the fourth, Fox hit a solo shot to get the Flyers on the board.

The Tritons answered with four runs in the bottom half, extending the lead to 8-1. That finished the outing of Dylan Wolff (Joliet, Ill.) (2-3) took the loss on the mound for Lewis, as he ended with four innings pitched allowing eight runs (six earned), giving up seven hits issuing two walks and striking out three.

Lewis clawed back with a five-run fifth inning kicked off by a solo bomb by Cantelo. With two outs and the bases loaded, McDevitt bashed a grand slam to score George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist), Kocen and Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) and make it 8-6.

UMSL added three runs of insurance in the bottom of the sixth, which paid off for the Tritons when the Flyers scored three in the top of the seventh. A trio of walks loaded the bases, and Krol had an RBI groundout to score Fox and make it 11-7.

An error on UMSL plated McDevitt and Kocen to make it 11-9 and brought the tying run to the plate but a foulout ended the game with the Tritons still on top.
