ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The No. 14 Lewis University men's volleyball team took down (RV) Purdue-Fort Wayne Saturday (March 2) at Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers more than doubled the Mastodons in attack percentage, at .381 to .179 and
Daniel Haber (Remsenburg, NY/Westhampton Beach) notched a career high in kills with 19, as he hit .567 in the match.

SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: Lewis 25, Purdue-Fort Wayne 15
Both sides went back-and-forth early, as Lewis grabbed a 3-2 lead with kills by Drolsum and Wymoczyl, but Purdue-Fort Wayne earned the next two points on a service error and ace to take a 4-3 advantage. Things stayed close until the score was tied at 10, and then the Flyers took off.
Lewis went on a 3-0 run with a kill and solo block by Roquet, and later used a 4-0 push with two kills by Haber and an ace by Davis to bring the lead to 20-13. The Mastodons would only earn two points the rest of the set, as the Flyers finished strong with a block by Morgan, Wymoczyl and Drolsum.
Lewis had an outstanding .652 attack percentage in the first set while holding Purdue-Fort Wayne to .120.
Set 2: Lewis 25, Purdue-Fort Wayne 21
The Mastodons started the second set taking a 4-1 lead. The Flyers got things evened up at 7-7 after a 3-0 run including a kill and ace by Roquet.
After Purdue-Fort Wayne took the next point, Lewis scored four in a row including a solo block by Wymoczyl and a service ace by Baggs to make it 11-8 Flyers. Things went back-and-forth from there until the Mastodons used a 3-0 run to tie the score at 17, prompting a timeout from Lewis.
Later, a 4-0 run by the Flyers with a kill by Haber and ace by Davis made it 23-19 Lewis. Roquet had the kill to finish off the set. The Flyers had a 3-0 advantage in both service aces and blocks in the set.
Set 3: Purdue-Fort Wayne 25, Lewis 19
Things were close early, with a 3-3 tie, but Purdue-Fort Wayne then went on a 4-0 run to take the lead and force Lewis to call timeout. The Flyers took three of the next four points out of the timeout to make it 8-6, but the Mastodons responded with five in a row to push the lead to 13-6,
Both sides traded points until another 3-0 charge for Purdue-Fort Wayne made it 19-10. Lewis responded by taking three in a row including two kills by Roquet looking for the comeback.
The Flyers later used a 3-1 push, with two more kills from Roquet, to get within six points at 23-17, and scored two more after the Mastodons reached set point, but Purdue-Fort Wayne ultimately earned the set win with a kill.
Set 4: Lewis 25, Purdue-Fort Wayne 20
The receiving team scored each of the first six points of the fourth set, before a pair of errors by the Mastodons helped Lewis to a 3-0 run that made it 5-3 Flyers. Later, a 4-1 run with three kills and a block assist by Haber made it 14-10 Lewis and drew a timeout from Purdue-Fort Wayne.
The Mastodons then grabbed some momentum with five of the next seven points to cut the deficit to 16-15, and the Flyers used a timeout. Lewis scored six of the next eight points including a pair of kills by Drolsum to bring the lead to 22-17.
Purdue-Fort Wayne tried to make a comeback, but the Flyers pushed back, and Haber finished the match with a kill.
