WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The No. 5 seed Lewis University women's bowling team made an unprecedented run to the final day of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament before bowing out 2-1 to eventual champion and top-seeded Maryville Sunday (March 24) in the semifinal match at Alley Cats. The Flyers advanced to the final day for the first time in program history and became the first non-top three seed to advance to Sunday in the GLVC Tournament.
The tournament consisted of six GLVC programs with the winner awarded an automatic berth to NCAA Regionals. The format was double elimination mega matches, which consists of a traditional game and five game baker set. If both teams win one game, it goes to a best-of-seven to determine the winner. Lewis matched Maryville with the most mega match wins in the tournament (3).
Carolina Alvarado (Metepec, Mexico) earned All-Tournament Team honors.
