ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University men's lacrosse team is set to host the NCAA II Men's Lacrosse Tournament Opening Round at Lewis Stadium Wednesday, May 8 at 4 p.m.
The Flyers (13-4) are set to take on a familiar foe in Maryville (13-4), a team Lewis played three times this year including the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament Championship Game on May 4. Lewis won that game 11-10.
The two teams opened the season off against each other in St. Louis with Maryville coming out on top 13-5. Both teams met up again in GLVC Play on April 6 and Lewis emerged victorious 20-12.
Lewis is led by GLVC Offensive Player of the Year,
Evan Clement (San Diego, California/Mt. Carmel HS / CCBC-Essex), who has scored 41 goals and 30 assists. In goal,
Riah Rathe (Chanhassen, Minnesota/Chanhassen HS) has recorded a 62.6 save percentage along with 218 total stops and a 8.79 goals against average.
Maryville is led by Zach Baker, who has recorded 42 goals himself while Justin Simonson has 23 goals and 22 assists. In goal, Dylan Radke has recorded a 56.8 save percentage with 179 saves and a 8.97 goals against average.
